Objective: Visit to Sufi Shrine, see Catholic Cathedral and India Gate from outside, experience music and ritual performance. SLEEP!

DAY TWO—Friday, March 10, 2017
Sites: Morning: Jama Masjid, Old City Tour: Several Delhis: Walk by Red Fort (Lal Quila), Chandni Chowk Bazar (Heritage and Historical); Sisganj Gurudwara (Sikh), Nau Ghar (Jain Galli), Jamma Masjid

Afternoon: Indo-Tibetan Colony

Objective: Get a feel for the layers of Old Delhi, various religious, colonial, and historical sites, Indo-Tibetan colony, Meeting with MODI OR MINISTERS.

DAY THREE—Saturday, March 11, 2017

Objective: Visit epicenter of Krishna Bhakti—perhaps the capital of the bhakti world in North India; Agra.

People: Shrivatsa Goswami Maharaj (Caitanya Prem Sansthan) will be our host, Theologian and Scholar; Tarun Krishnadasji, Vaishnava Haveli Musician; Mr. Gupta, Head of Tours for Taj Mahal, Professor Jack Hawley, Columbia University.

DAY FIVE—Monday, March 13, 2017: Vrindavan to Rishikesh

City: Vrindavan, Travel Day: Roadtrip to Rishikesh

DAY SIX—Tuesday, March 14, 2017: Rishikesh

Sites: Ashrams, Aarti on the Ganges, Maybe Baba Ramdev or Chidanand Saraswati

Objective: Spend the morning at the temple. We will meet with temple representatives, musicians. I am tring to organize a concert for us at one of the ashrams or at our hotel on the banks of the Ganges.

DAY SEVEN—Wednesday, March 15, 2017: Rishikesh to Delhi to Ahmedabad

City: Hardwar and Rishikesh, Ahmedabad.

Sites: Banks of the Ganges, Baba Ramdev Hospital and Ashram, Parmathniketan Ashram for the Ganges Arti

Objective: We will spend the morning in Rishikesh visiting some ashrams, some hot water springs, We will spend the afternoon in Hardwar. There, we will visit some old temples, peruse the two markets (traditional and tourist). We hope to enjoy yoga on the banks of the Ganges in Rishikesh at Parmarthniketan. We can take a dip in the river as well. We will also cross the famous Lakshman Jula bridge on the Ganges.

AHMEDABAD

DAY EIGHT—Thursday, March 16, 2017: Modhera Sun Temple, Patan Jain Temples, Vadtal (The Other Golden Temple), Step Wells (Tentative)

Objective: We will enjoy waking up on the banks of the Ganges one last time. We will leave for the airport in Delhi around 11 a.m. Our flight will bring us to Ahmedabad that evening.

DAY NINE—Friday, March 17, 2017: Ahmedabad

City: Ahmedabad

Sites: Hathi Sinha Dera (Jain), Jama Masjid and Siddi Saiyyed Mosque (Islam), Tour of the Old City and Underground Jain Derasars; Parsi Fire Temple (Khamasa Gate), Magen Abraham Synagogue.

Objective: Here, let’s focus on taking in how religions and religious communities have interacted in Gujarat. Things are very different from New Delhi. We will also spend some time talking to Muslims and Hindus on their take on Modi’s government’s role in bringing together or bifurcating religious communities.

DAY TEN—Saturday, March 18, 2017: AHMEDABAD REPORTING DAY, Meeting with media personalities

City: Ahmedabad

Objective: Use this time to check out the city and report. Panel discussion with media personalities: Arnab Goswami, Rohit Bansal, Nirmam Shah, Ajay Ummat

Dinner with Families in Ahmedabad at 7:30 p.m. (Five Groups: Jaina, Sunni Muslim, Jewish, Parsi, and Swaminarayan)

Faith: REPORTING DAY; Family Dinners, Media Personalities

DAY ELEVEN—Sunday, March 19, 2017: Ahmedabad

City: Ahmedabad

Sites: Sunday morning service at the Pentecostal Church in Navrangpura; Last meal together

Objective: Finally, Visit a service at a Christian Church in India! Tea with a Hindu religious leader thought to be the manifestation of God on earth by millions of his followers. A visit to the Gandhi Ashram.

Faith: Christian; Gujarat Cultural and Colonial Outlook; Hindu
